michael steele, RNC leadership, and @GOPNews (twitter)

in response to the post “just the beginning” on chairman steele’s blog:

 GOPNews needs an editor-at-large

or it will be beginning of the end if you, chairman steele, and the rnc leadership continue to allow the gop to be portrayed as follows:

@GOPNews WND: ‘Gays’ seek $1M to recruit private-school teachers: Bailout bank’s prize coveted to hype homosexual proms, co… (in a Tweet posted 11:34PM 01-21-2010).

the fact is that this organization/program is seeking to promote equality, understanding, acceptance, and tolerance, not homosexuality.

in fact, i struggle to think of one organization that exists today with the mission of promoting homosexuality.

the ones i am familiar with make it their mission to provide equal protection under the law.

i interpret the post from @GOPNews as hate-speak and extremely bigotted.

in fact, the last time i check our GOP website, sexuality was NOT listed in the “what we believe” section.

if i missed it please send me a link so that i can read our position on the matter.

but since i am positive it isn’t there i ask of you, “why would a “news” source for a major political party publish hate speak or anti-inclusion articles after we have achieve such a momentous victory in massachuessetts?

have we not learned anything from the scott brown election?

barack obama was at a place similar to ours a little over a year ago.

look at his predicament now.

public support and opinion change direction like the wind.

when you have it you have to maximize it and stay on message.

not attract unwanted press by allowing some paper pusher to blast anything they think is a GOP issue or talking point to millions of people via twitter/the internet.

i ask that you put more thought into who administers the GOP internet media accounts.

how are you, the leader of the party, supposed to promote our message of being an umbrella party when sources from inside your “administration” publish comments on articles like the one i mentioned.

"yes we can we’ll try!"

so i’m wondering why president obama’s reaction to the crisis in haiti can’t translate to america’s current crisis?

economic turnmoil

double digit unemployment

war in iraq

war in afghanistan

trillion dollar deficit

the crazy attempt to socialize america’s healthcare system

who cares if he needs to look like he can respond swiftly to a disaster?

the ONLY disaster i care to see him respond swiftly to is the current disastrous state of america.

i feel deeply for the people of haiti.

but let the red cross ($35 million raised and counting) and the military help haiti.

i think obama has way more important american issues to deal with.

here’s a thought…

what’s joe biden doing?  can he not give these press conferences updating us on phone calls with the president of haiti??

he’s not doing anything else and i think he should earn some of that salary the american people are paying him.

a familiar song (albeit written for another president) can be applied to our self-admitted ill-performing president:

"Dear Mr. President, Come take a walk with me.

Let’s pretend we’re just two people and You’re not better than me.

I’d like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?

Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?

What do you feel when you look in the mirror?

Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?

How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?

How do you walk with your head held high?

Can you even look me in the eye And tell me why?

Let me tell you ’bout hard work

Minimum wage with a baby on the way

Let me tell you ’bout hard work

Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away

Let me tell you ’bout hard work

Building a bed out of a cardboard box

Let me tell you ’bout hard work

You don’t know nothing ’bout hard work

How do you sleep at night?

How do you walk with your head held high?

Dear Mr. President, You’d never take a walk with me.

Would you?"

you look like a complete dumb@ss on tv tonight.

apparently you did not prepare for this debate tonight.

i hope, for your sake, no one else is watching the texas governor’s debate.

you look like such an idiot!

if i wasn’t already voting for kay bailey hutchison before, i would totally change my vote now.

you did not provide facts and/or statistics to back up any of the claims you made.

you also did not know anything about a law that bears your signature.

i think i would even vote for that other candidate–the one that wants to be  able to take her gun into the grocery store–before you.

this is completely hilarious.

you are a complete joke.

you should probably consider re-doing your tv ads to.

i haven’t been a texan that long but i know that there is no way that stats you’re providing about reducing taxes and increasing jobs are accurate.

a word of advice before your next debate–study your record, website, policies.

no, i take that back.

it’s more entertaining your way.

carry on.

it must be a slow news week.

i can’t believe this is such a shock for you guys.

it’s all over your networks.

didn’t you all assume that this would be her natural progression?

it would be “news” if she disappeared like tiger.

that would be something worthy of your coverage.

her being a commentator on america’s conservative news station isn’t really news, is it?

you guys surely remember we’re in a recession or that there are a couple of wars that we’re losing, right?

please stop with the sarah palin “news” and cover some real news stories.

thank god for npr.
